FOOD + DRINK + THE FARMS WHERE IT COMES FROM

Our fields have fed Europe for decades. From the world-famous beef cattle who took their name from our Cathedral city, to crisp and boutique potato vodka brands popping up and being named among the best in the world, the county’s culinary culture comes with dirt under its fingernails and still has farming at his heart - even if some of the hi-tech systems now used would have been unrecognisable to previous generations of farmers.

We were drinking cider long before it was served with ice and raspberries, and across the county you’ll find cider-making from small scale orchards to big-name brands like Westons and Strongbow.

We grow hops for beer, blackcurrants for British Cassis and manufacture chicken strips, breasts and nuggets for the nation’s leading supermarkets at Cargill, many of which come from local poultry farms.

If you want to eat, and eat well, or drink and be merry - it's a great place to start.
