Leominster Cultural Consortium (LCC) warmly invites artists, collectives or organisations to submit a proposal for a new creative health commission, working in partnership with Leominster Wellness Club (LWC).
This exciting opportunity is part of the Our Place Leominster programme, which sits within the wider Our Place initiative taking place across Herefordshire between 2024 and 2027, alongside South Wye (Hereford City) and the Golden Valley. In Leominster, the programme is being led by the LCC, a partnership of local cultural organisations and community voices.
The programme aims to:
- Improve health, wellbeing, and pride in place
- Support cultural participation through collaboration
- Embed place-based arts programming within Herefordshire’s communities.
Our Place is funded by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, with match funding from Herefordshire Council and Hereford City Council.
We are inviting proposals from artists, collectives or organisations to co-create a new commission with Leominster Wellness Club (LWC), an organisation dedicated to improving health and wellbeing for local residents. Most participants access the Club’s activities through social prescribing at Ryelands Surgery and regularly attend core sessions, which are:
- Craft & Chat – weekly sessions co-creating a piece of artwork together
- Wellness Walks – weekly walks around Leominster
- Yoga sessions – different yoga sessions, including Women’s Health and Chair Yoga
This commission aims to build on one or more of these core activities, using creative health practice to strengthen their benefits.
To apply, please download the full brief and submit a proposal (maximum 800 words) covering:
- Your initial idea and how it builds on the LWC’s existing activities;
- How you would work collaboratively with the LWC and participants to co-create sessions together;
- The intended timeframe (between September-February 2025), including the number of sessions and contact hours;
- Potential challenges and how you would address them;
- A short summary of your experience in Creative Health, or in similar settings where creativity has supported people’s wellbeing.• Initial project milestones (these will be finalised with the LWC);
- An outline budget up to £5,000 and costs to cover LWC staff time (see budget and support section).
- Supporting images or links are welcome but not essential.
- Proposals will be reviewed by a panel including representatives from the LCC, LWC, and an independent assessor.
