Great Place project: Join the 2019 judging panel

Location
Hereford
Closing Date

Herefordshire’s A Great Place, delivered by Rural Media in Hereford, is looking for a dynamic and diverse group of early and mid-career creatives to get involved in the 2019 Hidden Gems grant scheme.

This grant, co-funded Arts Council England, National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England, has already supported four incredible arts and heritage projects, collaborations that included commissioning Yinka Shonibare to the digital recreation of a lost fountain using Augmented Reality.

This year Hidden Gems will fund five more creative projects that raise the profile of Herefordshire heritage through arts and digital technology.

To help the Great Place team award funding in June and July 2019, they are putting together a panel of early and mid-career creatives who currently work in the cultural and creative industries. To be on the judging panel, you must be passionate about Herefordshire having a strong, inclusive and thriving cultural scene.

It doesn’t matter if you’re employed or freelance. It doesn’t matter if you or your organisation has previously applied for funding through Hidden Gems or the other Great Place grants. There is no age limit.

Great Place will cover travel and expenses, and buy you a slap up dinner or two.

In return for your help, the project is offering training and Continual Professional Development sessions that support creative careers and try to tackle some of the challenges we face.

To be a panel member, you must:

  • Work in the creative scene in Herefordshire (any arts medium; heritage sites including historic homes, museums, libraries and archives; in creative digital technology and media; cultural tourism; or community outreach)
  • Passionately support the aims and ambitions of the Hidden Gems grant scheme – that’s fostering collaboration, new ideas, diverse community involvement and bringing the arts and heritage closer together
  • Be able to attend four panel meet-ups in June and July - dates TBC
  • Declare conflicts of interest up front

Interested? Send your contact details and a few paragraphs on why you’d like to be on the 2019 Hidden Gems panel to greatplace@ruralmedia.co.uk before noon on Wednesday, May 8.
